UV printing on PVC board: what it is and when to use it

UV printing on PVC board means printing straight onto a sheet of rigid PVC — also sold as Sintra — with our flatbed UV printer. Nothing is printed on a sticker and mounted on top: the ink is cured with UV light and bonds to the plastic itself, so the graphic cannot peel, bubble or delaminate over time.

It is the right choice when you need a rigid, lightweight, permanent sign: menu boards, directional signs, real estate panels, trade show displays and retail signage. We stock PVC board in several thicknesses — typically 3 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm — and can cut any of them to a custom shape or contour on our in-house CNC router.

UV-cured inks resist fading well, which is what makes these panels suitable both for indoor displays and for long-term outdoor use in the Costa Rican climate. The matte finish cuts glare and keeps the text readable in full sun. PVC board printing starts at $30, and the finished panel leaves our Guanacaste workshop ready to install.

Common questions

What is the difference between printing on PVC board and on ACM?

Rigid PVC is light and economical, ideal for menu boards, interior signage and medium-term outdoor signs. ACM — Lokbond aluminium composite — is two aluminium sheets over a polyethylene core: far more rigid, perfectly flat, and it will not warp or bow, which is why it goes on building facades and permanent architectural signs. PVC board printing starts at $30 and ACM at $100.

Can UV printing on PVC board be used outdoors?

Yes. Because we print directly onto the substrate with UV-cured inks, the graphic resists fading and cannot peel off in tropical heat — the usual failure of adhesive vinyl mounted onto a board.

What thicknesses and shapes can PVC board be printed in?

We work with 3 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm boards. Any of them can be CNC-routed to the shape you need, from a standard rectangle to a custom contour following your logo.
